History

Over the past four years, Soul City Church has been proud to partner with two great Chicago Schools, Brown Elementary and Dett Elementary (both located adjacent to the United Center). The Christmas Store began in 2010 and has grown exponentially each year, partnering with hundreds of families from Brown and Dett to provide an unforgettable shopping experience.

Beyond Charity

Rather than being another charity handout, the Christmas Store is unique in that all of the items sold are brand new, high-quality items sold at reduced prices. The coats, gloves, scarves, shoes, clothing, books and, of course, toys are purchased by members of Soul City Church, local businesses and neighbors who care about the kids and families in our city.
“By actually selling the items, instead of giving them away, something happens that is far greater than ‘charity’—dignity.”
By actually selling the items, instead of giving them away, something happens that is far greater than “charity”—dignity. No one wants handouts or hand-me-downs. Every parent wants to provide for their kids—every parent deserves to provide for their kids. The Christmas Store gives a small opportunity at an important time of year to do just that.

A Unique Approach

What makes the Christmas Store unique is that every dollar spent goes directly back in to Brown and Dett Elementary. This provides a unique opportunity for parents to creatively invest in their children’s school, raising thousands of dollars in a single day—all while shopping for the people they love.

An Invitation

This Christmas, we want to invite you to give beyond charity. We want to invite you to give responsibly. To give joyfully. To give generously. To give dignity.
